Everyone being so passionate about learning also made every lesson fun and enjoyable. I also loved the way that teachers encouraged us to be curious about maths, and being part of a community of incredibly intelligent students really challenged me and pushed me to do my best.

I always enjoyed the community atmosphere at KCLMS. With everyone doing roughly the same subjects we were always able to talk to each other and work through things we were struggling with - even between the Year 12s and Year 13s. On top of this, the teachers will always make sure to push you further than you thought you could go. I don't think I would have done as well as I have without that support.

King's Maths school is such a special place and my time there has played a really important role in laying the foundations for my life long learning. Being in an environment where you know that everyone wants to explore and share their passion for maths is one of the best aspects. There is a strong community feel which creates the confidence that help is available and to not be afraid to make mistakes, an integral part of growth.
Shauna (2018)
When I was at KCLMS it felt like home. I enjoyed the support from peers and staff, and the general atmosphere that was created by people that all share a passion for maths. I also liked that the teaching wasn't solely focussed on getting the best grades, but rather understanding the concepts and how they were reached. This kind of thinking has definitely helped throughout my degree so far, and will continue to help me in the future.

KCLMS was more than a school; it was our home. I could walk into the main building in the morning and hear "Do you want to see a cool question?" even before going up the stairs. Everyone around me constantly wanted to share, to collaborate, to solve yet another problem, no matter how bizarre. The teachers would always come to our rescue (after a lot of rounds of Socratic questioning, of course) and their genuine enthusiasm encouraged us to keep seeking answers. Without KCLMS I would never be where I am now: I grew not just academically but also as a person. I often wish I could do it all over again!

KCLMS made me into a more confident person - the compassionate and lively community really made me feel able to be myself! From early on I felt like I fit in with my peers even outside of a common interest in Mathematics. The academic and pastoral support from staff was incredible and enabled me to pursue my interests, develop, and reach my full potential.

KCLMS was a really formative time for me, and the space allowed me to grow into the person I am today. I really enjoyed the tight knit nature of the school and how easy it was to make friends with other like minded individuals. I also liked how caring the teachers were of us academically and personally, they really pushed us to reach our full potential. KCLMS was a really unique experience that I was so lucky to have.

I enjoyed so much of my time at KCLMS. It was such a friendly community, both students and staff. Everyone was very passionate and smart. I loved being in an environment where I was challenged and had to push myself. I loved the random moments where people were working on problems together, trying to learn and solve a problem. Most importantly, I had the opportunity to meet such a range of people and made many friends that I hope to have for a long time.

KCLMS has been an incredible experience for me. It possessed an incredibly unique environment, that blended trust, passion and intelligence into a cohesive and welcoming community, something I have come to learn is very rare to experience. The thing that stood out the most to me was the mutual respect for both student and teacher voices, and how ideas and suggestions from students were welcomed and possibly implemented to help shape the school to be the best place for its current students.

Although KCLMS excels in its mathematical nature, I appreciated the support with bridging the gap to university and the opportunities provided to assist that. Independent futures was a great initiative to allow me to explore my interests with the support of the school and helped to reinforce my personal statement. I loved doing King's certificate and EPQ as they were very fun projects which gave a chance to apply soft skills in industry/university level problems from outside of the typical curriculum, giving me greater insight into the standard of work to come in the future.

I really enjoyed the atmosphere at KCLMS. It encouraged learning and made it fun. I think the best thing about King's was that it is a very united school, and over the course of the two years you get to know everybody there really well. This is partly because the school is small and also because you always get to interact with different people - for example there's different people in your lessons, in your form and in extra-curricular activities such as Curriculum X. My experience at King's was amazing and I feel really lucky to have been able to attend it and to make such amazing friends.

Over the twoish years at Kings, so many different things have stood out. On the first day of Year 12, I remember enjoying meeting the strange bunch of people that I now call friends (and the free pizza). As Year 12 progressed, I discovered Whittard's and scavenger hunts in Walking, the almighty falafel rush (and subsequently falafel rush tunnel) and the best hide and seek spots in the school on econ revision days. In Year 13, the things I loved varied from Sums and Integrals and Christmas markets to starting climbing in sport. Finally, in lockdown I found having KCLMS people in my life- whether we were doing cooking, quizzes or socially distant walks - was lovely and I can't wait to see everyone again!

My favourite thing about KCLMS has been the people there and the environment that it creates. The students and teachers are kind and interesting, so it's easy to get along with people and I made some incredible friends. This, combined with our shared interest in maths, helps to create what is both an enjoyable and focused learning environment.

Going to KCLMS has genuinely been the best thing that I have ever done. Waking up every morning knowing that I could be challenged mathematically by both incredible teachers who had a real passion for their subject and by my peers who shared an enthusiasm for the subject made it feel like we weren’t just learning for the sake of it, but we were looking at it with a real understanding and curiosity for the subject. The entire KCLMS community are the most supportive people I’ve met and even after leaving I still feel a very strong sense of both support and inspiration from my all of my peers that I think will last a lifetime.

The combination of a tight-knit atmosphere and the focus on mathematics means that it felt like I was swimming in mathematics. This environment, combined with the invaluable support from staff and friends alike led me to not just succeed, but also to thrive and push myself to heights I did not know before. I loved every second at KCLMS; everyday I would wake up excited, ready to learn more and to have fun with friends.
