King's Maths School would like to highlight some opportunities which pertain to our alumni. Please find further information below.
The first opportunity has come via our former Head Teacher Mr Abramson who is now the CEO of U-Maths. Mr Abramson has been collaborating with upReach to provide 20 fully-funded places for maths school students on their Tech500 programme which supports undergraduates from low socio-economic backgrounds to secure top graduate jobs in tech.
The programme includes 1-1 coaching, industry mentoring, internships, bootcamps, datathons, hackathons and CV/application support. They work with big players in tech including Microsoft, Samsung and Deloitte. The definition of tech is broad and includes roles involving mathematical modelling, engineering, software engineering, data science, quantitative analysis and much more.
The only eligibility requirements are attending a UK state school (e.g. KCLMS) and having a household income below £42620 (no complex paperwork required: upReach pull all the necessary information from the student loans company to assess eligibility). The priority is to enrol students about to go into their first year of an undergraduate programme, but upReach will also take those about to go into their second year.
Deadline: they can take applicants up to the end of the calendar year, but they should note the limited capacity. So, applying sooner is better. More information and the application **are here**.
The Martingale Foundation, which offers fully-funded postgraduate scholarships in mathematics and related topics at UK universities, is keen to have KCLMS students apply to its programme. Their mission is to fund and support talented students who are facing financial barriers to pursue postgraduate study, and to provide them with development opportunities.
Martingale Scholars will receive full funding for a Masters or PhD at one of their partner universities, research expenses and a tax-free living wage stipend. They will also gain access to their multi-year programme of training and career support. Scholarship applications are open until 27 October 2024; more info about the application can be found **here**.
Man Group has two opportunities relevant to our alumni. First, there is the 2025 AHL Quant Research Summer Internship Programme which is now open for applications. More information along with the application are **here**. Apply by 21st October.
This year, Man Group has decided to broaden their reach beyond the exclusive King's Maths School alumni programme, inviting a wider range of students from across the country to apply. While this means they won’t be offering a dedicated programme for KCLMS alumni this year, they strongly encourage our alumni to apply.
Another opportunity is the AHL Quant Talent Programme which more closely resembles a graduate programme. More info along with the **application here**. Apply by 21st October.
We hope some of these opportunities are of interest and wish you good luck in applying.
