Interested in a fully-funded maths master's and PhD?

The Martingale Foundation is offering postgraduate scholarships in the mathematical sciences – all tuition fees fully covered; there's a tax-free stipend and research budget too.

The Martingale Foundation is looking for scholars passionate about mathematical sciences who want to pursue a master's and PhD. If you are a final year undergraduate or a graduate in maths or a closely-related degree, then this scheme is for you! One of their scholars is a KCLMS graduate. Orson Ye (Class of 2019) will be pursuing his master’s in mathematics at Cambridge this autumn.

Scholars will get full funding at one of eight leading universities which are as follows: Cambridge, Imperial, King's, Oxford, UCL, Edinburgh, Bristol and Manchester. All tuition fees are fully covered, and the scholarship includes a tax-free stipend, research budget, and multi-year support on the Foundation’s development programme. Successful candidates will begin their master’s degrees in autumn 2024.

The Martingale Foundation has been established because it believes that family income should not be a barrier to the pursuit of excellence. The foundation is supported by world-leading algorithmic trading company XTX Markets.

Candidates should have achieved, or be on track to achieve, a first or upper-second class undergraduate degree in mathematics or a closely related subject. Candidates must also qualify for ‘Home Fee’ status (please see their website for further information). They will prioritise applications from students for whom family income has been, or would be, a barrier to pursuing postgraduate study.

The final deadline to apply is 25 October 2023. Please note, there is an "early bird" application deadline of Monday 02 October. Applying by this date gives you the opportunity to be considered for an early offer.

Funded places will be allocated and decisions will be communicated by 14 March 2023.
